at Caucus FoundationFamed Producer Chuck Fries, President of the Caucus Foundation, invited us to attend their 23rd annual awards dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Honors were presented to such luminaries as Suzanne de Passe (Producer of the Year), David E. Kelley (Writer) and Henry Winkler, Actor/Producer.

Kelley, creator of such award winning shows as Ally McBeal, and Boston Public was not accompanied by his gorgeous wife, Michelle Pfeiffer, but there was no shortage of glamorous gals in attendance. The paparazzi had a field day shooting blonde beauty, Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck) wearing a simple sweater and slacks. Despite the disfiguring work done by “The Carver” to her in the third season finale, Carlson, still has the best smile in the business. She told me she works with the Smile Network, a group that provides needed reconstructive and plastic surgery to children in impoverished nations. And you thought she was just another pretty face.

Another familiar face (if not so pretty) was ABC TV reporter George Pennacchio who has been lauded for his work covering the entertainment industry. We commented on his unusual vests which he dons for every occasion. And we learned that his wife, Erin, who is a fashion designer, makes them for him. What a gal!

with Henry WinklerThe Caucus for TV Producers, Writers and Directors strives to make an impact on the industry and improve the quality of TV for the general audience. Some of the illustrious presenters included actress Doris Roberts, Ryan Seacrest, and Byron Allen. No stranger to awards, Larry King, was honored as Journalist of the Year. King recently established a $1 million journalism scholarship to George Washington University’s School of Media for students of disadvantaged backgrounds. What a guy!
