Remember the song, “Someone’s In the Kitchen with Dinah”? Well, in this case, the kids in the kitchen included Eric McCormack (Will & Grace), Lily Tomlin, and Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond). They were all cooking up a storm at the Project Angel Food Kitchen, who were celebrating the delivery of their 4 millionth meal to L.A. county residents facing serious illnesses.
The theme of the soiree was “summer white” and featured a special performance by Grammy Award winning artist k.d. lang, who has recorded some new tunes for TV’s Desperate Housewives album, out Sept. 20th. The Canadian born singer will also perform at the Alberta Centennial on Sept 1st, along with other headliners including Paul Brandt and Ian Tyson.

So while in a musical mood, we joined L.A.’s music royalty to honor Bobby McFerrin at the Mancini Institute Annual fundraising Gala and concert This event is a fundraiser for the Mancini scholarship fund, which nurtures the future of budding musicians. Quincy Jones presented the Hank Award to McFerrin, improvisational vocal genius, who also performed. Quincy, who is the recipient of nearly 80 Grammy Awards, recently sold his long time Bel Air home for over $5 million. He moved into his dream home, a 30,000 square foot compound that he built on the west side. Dave Koz hosted with special appearances from Pulitzer Prize Wining composer Christopher Rouse, conductor Joana Carneiro, singer Patti Austin and many more special guests.
The fall social season is almost upon us, and we want to keep you abreast of some events that might be of interest.
