Joni Berry has to be the most generous hostess in town. She graciously underwrote dinner for hundreds of guests as the SHARE fundraiser, and even was the official costumer for the lovely ladies who danced in the show. And what a show it was! The theme was Share Jazz, and included production numbers "Way Down Under in New Orleans", and "Let's Misbehave". Among the dazzling dancers were actress Susan Blakely, and Miriam Nelson and Gloria Franks (who are Founders of SHARE, and still kicking up their heels, 54 years later)!

And last, but not least, art, culture, music and fun created an upbeat mood at the New West Symphony's first "For the Kids Gala" at the Regency club. The virtuoso Award was presented to Rick Newberg, retiring board president, who has created the opportunity to do things here on the West Side, to make the orchestra a part of the community. Their aim is to inspire young people with good music, and expose them to the finer things in life. Their live auction feature exquisitely painted violins that had been signed by such luminaries as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and actors Tom Hanks, Melanie Griffith and James Garner. Funds raised will be used for their education program for children, and to introduce students to the orchestra, and the joy of classical music.
A most worthy endeavor on the Hollywood Beat.
