With the smashing success of Jersey Boys, there is a resurgence of the swing movement, and singers from the 50's. Who else personifies the best girl singer of that era, than Keely Smith? She and her late husband, Louis Prima were the undisputed King & Queen of Vegas, and Keely's recording of "I Wish you Love" received a Grammy nomination, and sold millions of copies.

Westside audiences were treated to a performance by the legendary pop and jazz singer at the Annual Concert for the Society of Singers at the El Rey Theatre. She was joined by Jerry Sharell, who began his career with the Doo-Wop group, The Velvets, and later became an Executive with major record companies. Rounding out a terrific threesome, was Gary LeMel, President of Worldwide Music, who began his career as a jazz vocalist, and later became producer for Neil Diamond.

While in a musical mood, checked out Sterlings Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, and enjoyed the singing style of Perry Wood. This intimate setting is perfect for a performer like Wood, whose show, Sinatra Revisited/All The Way, gained a standing ovation from the delighted audience. Some of the notables enjoying Vitello's exquisite cuisine included Manager, Mark Levin, Casting Director, Marvin Paige, Academy Award winner, Margaret O'Brien (who still has the sweetest face in the business) and Prince Jurgen von Anhalt and Princess Tarian, who are in town for several months promoting their Jet Art.

To get back to the Society Scene, some of the most elegant ladies belong to LACE (Ladies of Abundant Charm and Elegance) founded by Vici Billings and Jacque Heebner. Their purpose is to nurture personal growth in a light-hearted manner, while sharing "A Feast for the Senses" of friendship, gourmet cuisine, artful pleasures, and lots of fun. Meetings are held at the Regency Club in Westwood, and they offer a fabulous 4 course tasting menu, complemented by fine wines.
We were pleased to meet actress Cindy Williams, best known as star of Laverne and Shirley, who shared some fascinating Hollywood stories with the gorgeous guests. All this and the lovely piano music of Tony Cobb. Who could ask for anything more?

And last but not least, The Beverly Hills Bar Association honored attorney Barry L. Hirsch as Entertainment Lawyer of the year at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Among the guests were a number of Hirsch's A-list clients, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Garth Brooks, Rob Schneider, Sean Penn and writer/producer Steven Bochco. Proceeds from this event benefit their education and community outreach programs. The Beverly Hills. Bar is the largest entertainment law association in the country. And why not? Seems every celeb in tinseltown needs a good attorney on the Hollywood Beat.
