Holmes & Watson is the rare kind of bad movie that is actually causing moviegoers to leave before it's even finished. Much has already been made of the latest team-up between Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Unfortunately, this wasn't the spiritual successor to Step Brothers that many had been hoping for. Instead, we seem to have a candidate for worst movie of the year, if public opinion is to be believed and now, there are quite a few people taking to Twitter to reveal that they, and others, have been walking out of showings.

Going to the movies is not a cheap endeavor these days. So for a movie to be bad enough for a paying customer to walk out really says something. Twitter user Louise Orr had this to say, revealing that she only made it through roughly 30 minutes before bailing out.

"Literally never walked out of a movie before but after witnessing the first 30 minutes of Holmes & Watson, I'm convinced Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly should never be allowed to work again"

Critics were not allowed to screen Holmes and Watson ahead of its debut, as Sony seemed to be well aware that they had a bad movie on their hands. But the critics who did choose to see it anyway have not been kind. The "comedic" take on Sherlock Holmes debuted with a rare 0 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Things have since improved a bit, with three positive reviews bringing that up to 7 percent. But it's still grim. Twitter user Jean Daul was also not kind, declaring this to be only the second movie he ever walked out of.

"Perfect day to go to movie...just don't see new Will Farrell film...Holmes & Watson. Horrible!! I have only walked out of two movies in my life. Nothing funny about it!!"

Director Etan Cohen, who previously worked with Will Ferrell on Get Hard, is responsible for the movie, as both writer and director. Needless to say, this isn't going to wind up doing his career any favors. The Twitter account GA for NU not only walked out along with several family members, but declared Holmes and Watson to possibly be the worst movie ever made.

"Holmes And Watson is an absolute disaster. Had to wake up 3 other family members 40 minutes in just to walk out. Possibly overtakes Ishtar as worse movie of all time! Don't waste your $ or time! #HolmesandWatson"

While that's perhaps a stretch, it's clear that Ferrell and Reilly deserved a better reunion. As we recently reported, Sony actually tried to sell the movie to Netflix, who bailed out other studios in the past by purchasing titles like The Cloverfield Paradox and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. But even Netflix knew to distance themselves from this trainwreck. Sony Pictures is going to lose some money on this one. Feel free to check out some of the other tweets from those who walked out of Holmes and Watson below.
