Days ahead of the Christmas holiday, Home Alone franchise star Devin Ratray has been arrested. The actor, who appeared in the original Home Alone films along with the recent reboot Home Sweet Home Alone, turned himself into the authorities in Oklahoma on Wednesday following an alleged spat with his ex-girlfriend two weeks ago. He was booked on domestic violence charges, but through his lawyer, Ratray insists that he'd only broken up with his ex, and that the incident never got violent.

Cops say that the alleged victim "appeared to have multiple injuries," such as bruises and marks on her face. In any case, TMZ reports Ratray was booked for domestic assault and battery by strangulation, a felony charge. He was also hit with misdemeanor domestic assault and battery. Ratray has since been released on $25k bond and hasn't yet publicly addressed the situation since his arrest.

Both Ratray and his alleged victim agree that a bad argument between them went down on Dec. 10, resulting in the two breaking up. Ratray's ex filed a police report that day, alleging the Buzz actor had gotten physical in a hotel room after a night of drinks. She claims Ratray pushed her, punched her in the face, and pressed his hands against her throat and mouth, allegedly telling her, "This is how you die." She adds that Ratray, who'd had more than a dozen drinks, grew angry with her for giving away autographed photos of him for free to Home Alone fans.

What exactly went down that day isn't entirely clear, but both sides will soon be told in the courtroom. The arrest is very ill-timed for Ratray, who's been enjoying a return to the spotlight with his recent reprisal of the Buzz McCallister role in Home Sweet Home Alone. The movie partially serves as a reboot of the franchise, but it's connected to the original films with the inclusion of Ratray's return as Buzz. Ironically, the adult Buzz is a police officer in the new film.

A former child actor, Ratray previously played Buzz, the older brother of Macaulay Culkin's Kevin McCallister, in 1990's Home Alone. He reprised the role for the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He's an antagonist that the viewers are meant to despise, serving as a bully to Kevin that the people watching just want to see get his comeuppance. Ratray has been acting regularly in the years since, though his status as Buzz continues to follow him around. In recent years, he appeared in flms like Masterminds, Rough Night, and Hustlers. The actor also had recurring roles in the recent shows Mosaic and The Tick, and made further appearances in programs like Hawaii Five-0, The Good Fight, and Russian Doll.

Because Devin Ratray's return as Buzz is crucial to the plot of Home Sweet Home Alone, it doesn't seem probable that his scenes will be removed from the streaming release in light of these allegations. While Kevin McCallister is mentioned, Macaulay Culkin did not personally appear in the film. You can watch Home Sweet Home Alone streaming on Disney+.
