Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of Horizons (which has also been known as Oblivion) for Walt Disney Pictures and director Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy).

The story centers on Tom Cruise's character, a mechanic who is one of the last men on an abandoned Earth, after the rest of humanity left the planet due to its uninhabitable environment. When a mysterious woman (Andrea Riseborough) crash lands on Earth, they go on a journey of self-discovery. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will play Sykes, an expert in weapons and military technology who is said to be intelligent and physically imposing. Olga Kurylenko also stars as Tom Cruise's co-worker on Earth, alongside Morgan Freeman, whose role hasn't been revealed.

Joseph Kosinski is directing Horizons from a script by Michael Arndt. Karl Gajdusek and William Monahan previously worked on the screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin next month in Louisiana.
