Ridley Scott’s House Of Gucci was one of the most talked-about films of last year and was highly anticipated after the first trailer dropped. One of the reasons audience's flocked to their theaters to watch House of Gucci was, of course, Lady Gaga's performance as Patrizia Reggiani. Indeed, the film tells the story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver), which was orchestrated by his ex-wife Patrizia. The film also stars Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Jack Huston.

One of the most significant aspects of House of Gucci and a strong reason for its success was the outfits featured throughout the film. Costume designer Janty Yates produced over 45 looks which appeared on Lady Gaga throughout the film, and there was truly an outfit for every occasion. Here’s a look at Lady Gaga's best outfits in House of Gucci.

Studio 54 Sequin Dress

When Patrizia visits the world-famous Studio 54 in House of Gucci, she adorns an outfit which is more than suitable for the occasion. She wears a fully sequined turquoise halter number, styled with several chunky gold bracelets and necklaces as well as dangling, sparkling earrings. Studio 54 was famous for its elite clientele and extravagant, showstopping antics which would go on behind its closed doors. Now, the club is the stuff of legends, and Patrizia’s outfit is certainly fitting for such a setting.

Wedding Dress

The version of Patrizia’s wedding dress worn by Lady Gaga is vastly different to the original which was worn in 1973. Patrizia’s real life dress was a lot more modest, with no cut out plunging neckline or carefully placed lace and frills like we see in the dramatized version. The original version featured a high neck and far less extravagant details. Reportedly, Yates’ team had created two versions of the dress, however ultimately favoured the more extravagant version to fit in with the film’s aesthetic.

White Lace Dress

Patrizia wears the bridal-esque look when she meets the Gucci family after she marries Maurizio. The couple take a trip to Lake Como after Aldo reaches out to them to come for his birthday. None of them attended their wedding, so Patrizia wears this bridal lace look in a passive-aggressive camp moment that makes House of Gucci so great. Yates revealed that Gina Lollobrigida was a reference point for costume design throughout the film, and this is perfectly demonstrated here.

Red Elizabeth Taylor Dress

The first time Maurizio and Patrizia meet is at a debutante party, and Patrizia's outfit does not disappoint, making a strong first impression. She wears a red satin gown, black gloves and diamond jewelry. The look is reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor, and is based on a very similar look worn by the real-life Patrizia, although this one was in bubble-gum pink. The look paints Patrizia in an innocent light, with the audience unaware of the dark moments soon to come.

Black and Pink Polka Dots Dress

The silhouette we see here is one which Patrizia often appears in, with strong, puffed shoulders and a pencil skirt. It’s a look reminiscent of 80s fashion, transporting the viewer to the time period of House of Gucci. The outfit is particularly striking as it comes at a time when Patrizia is claiming her power and taking the fate of Gucci into her own hands. She’s expressing her feminine power, and her silhouette matches this.

Pink and Black Lace Skirt Suit

This bold suit is what Patrizia wears when she begins her journey of taking over Gucci, and the transformation of her character is clear. She commands the business meeting scenario accompanied by her lace blazer accompanied by pearls. The strong fuchsia colour compliments the boldness of her character, which is very appropriate for this point in the film.

Final Mourning Look

final look - reclaims house

Patrizia’s final extravagant look occurs when she reclaims her house after she has orchestrated the murder of Maurizio. She wears all black, including a black leather jacker with a fur lining, as well as large black rimmed sunglasses and styled hair along with statement earrings. It represents the character's progression into darkness and is a striking final look.

Ski Outfit

Patrizia’s skiing outfit was iconic from the point where the House of Gucci trailer dropped. Patrizia confronts Maurizio’s mistress in her fiery red skiing ensemble. She pairs this look with over the top jewellery and a fur hat. She truly wears the outfit rather than the other way around, and it’s the perfect testament to the camp theatrics present throughout House of Gucci.
