With nine episodes left to go in season 1, there's sure to be plenty of betrayals and backstabbing ahead for the Targaryen family. Their house is at the height of its power at the beginning of the series, but audiences will soon see their rule crumble as a civil war ensues within the family. HBO released a new trailer for House of the Dragon following the premiere, which looks at the rest of the season and the drama that transpires.

It seems the relationship between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower will undergo quite the transition, with the pair at each other's throats in later episodes. Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, will see himself in even more trouble than most realize as he tries to claim his spot as heir to the Iron Throne. Finally, a siege of King's Landing may occur as a fleet of ships waits in the bay. The rest of the House of the Dragon will surely be must-watch television, so tune into HBO Max on Sundays to catch the latest episodes of the Game of Thrones spinoff.

Emma D' Arcy has yet to appear in House of the Dragon, although the actor playing their younger counterpart has. At some point during the season, a time jump will occur, where D' Arcy will take over the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen from Milly Alcock. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said they believe two main things make the character interesting for them.

"I think there are, like, two main things [that make] Rhaenyra a character who interests me, at least. She is both female and never expects to be heir. That's never on the table. And everything falls apart the moment that she receives the inheritance that everyone looks for. And the other thing is she's someone who I think is at odds with her gender as a result of the position she finds herself in. Yeah, I suppose I'm interested in, like, all gender questions. So yeah, you have someone whose womanhood are at odds with the role that they've been awarded."

Rhaenyra Targaryen received the inheritance for the Iron Throne from her father, Viserys. However, that claim will be contested throughout the season and the rest of the series. Whether she will ever sit atop the iconic sword-filled chair is yet to be seen; however, Daemon Targaryen will likely do whatever he can to receive the power of being the King.
