Emily Carey and Milly Alcock have been two of the biggest stars through four episodes of House of the Dragon, as they play Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen, respectively. The two, who were once best friends before Hightower's marriage to Rhaenyra's father, have stolen countless scenes they've been a part of, becoming fan-favorites during their short time on the series.

But, of course, the two won't stay with House of the Dragon for too long, as Alcock and Carey will be replaced with older versions of the characters at the mid-way point through the first season. Emma D'Arcy is set to take over the role of Rhaenyra from Alcock, while Olivia Cooke will play Alicent. The 10-year time jump could take place following the next episode, meaning we may only have one more installment with the younger actors. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Carey discussed her role in House of the Dragon and commented on the possibility of returning to the series in later seasons. She says she has no idea what will happen as of right now but would love to return at some point.

"It's been spoken about, conversations have happened, but, in all honesty, I know absolutely nothing and I have no idea, Of course, I would love to come back. It depends on how it's received and where they want to take the show next. I'm just going with the flow!"

Will We Ever See Carey and Alcock in Flashbacks?

House of the dragon
HBO

Game of Thrones is known for rarely showing flashbacks, so it would be difficult to implement into the mostly chronological House of the Dragon. In the initial series, the history of Westeros was mainly shown through dialogue, as characters discuss events that occurred before the show instead of directly showing the audience. When flashbacks are used, it's for monumentally essential moments, such as the Ned Stark scene in the Season 6 finale of Game of Thrones.

There may be a few moments in season 1 of House of the Dragon that will connect with later scenes in the series; however, it's impossible to say right now. But, of course, fans are already beginning to request the actors' return as their characters' portrayals have already become a hit thus far through the series. So, for now, fans will have to wait and see whether Alcock and Carey return to House of the Dragon in later seasons.
