According to Variety, With the fifth season of 24 off to a red-hot ratings start, 20th Century Fox TV has wasted no time signing showrunner Howard Gordon to a lucrative overall deal. A multiyear pact, valued in the mid-seven figures, kicks in this June and ensures Gordon will return as showrunner on the skein's sixth season. It also calls for the scribe to create and develop other series projects for the studio.
Gordon has been with the Fox thriller since the show's premiere; before that, he was exec producer on 20th's The X-Files. Current season of 24 is his first as showrunner, with Gordon stepping up as series creators and exec producers Bob Cochran and Joel Surnow split their time between the show and development.
Since returning in January, 24 has received some of its best reviews ever while generating strong year-to-year ratings gains. Through its first seven hours, skein is up nearly 20% in adults 18-49.
