Just one day after 20th Century Fox set a release date for Wolverine 3, the studio has hired screenwriter David James Kelly to write the script.

Deadline claims that Hugh Jackman is returning to star, in what will be either his eighth or ninth turn as Logan/Wolverine, depending on if the actor makes an appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse.

The Wolverine director James Mangold is coming back to direct the sequel, although no plot details have been released at this time.

Hugh Jackman hinted about stepping away from his iconic character earlier this month, and director James Mangold said that the sequel may happen with or without him earlier this week. It seems everything has been worked out, with the actor now on board for this follow-up.

David James Kelly was previously attached to write the Daredevil for Fox, but that was before Marvel re-acquired the rights to the property. He is also adapting Mind Management for Scott Free Productions, and his original pitch Sentinel for Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way and 20th Century Fox.
