With X-Men: Days of Future Past in theaters at midnight tonight, Hugh Jackman is on the verge of wrapping up a huge publicity tour that has seen him travel the world. Instead of answering the same old questions, he's had some fun imagining where he might take the popular mutant Wolverine next. /hugh-jackman-wants-wolverine-to-join-the-avengers/Earlier this week, he said he wanted Logan to join Marvel's The Avengers. Now he's saying that he wouldn't mind if his popular mutant showed up in the standalone Deadpool movie.
" "We sort of took a pretty strong choice on Deadpool, where we kind of stitched him up. And I love the character of Deadpool and I think that the sort of badass, fast-talking, funny, annoying Deadpool vs Wolverine would still be cool. We've sort of done it, but I think we could have done that much better."
Ryan Reynolds is expected to reprise the role in Marvel's first R rated movie. The script has been worked on for years, though 20th Century Fox has yet to green light the film. The filmmakers think an announcement is close. And one of the early drafts of the screenplay does have Deadpool abusing a Wolverine action figure. The various iterations of the script have been called 'very meta', with Deadpool acknowledging his failed appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It's quite possible that Hugh Jackman will appear as himself in the standalone adventure, that is, if it ever gets off the ground.
