House star Hugh Laurie is in talks to portray the villain in MGM Studios' RoboCop remake.

The actor will portray the CEO of OmniCorp, the conglomerate responsible for building the title character, played by Joel Kinnaman. The cast also includes Gary Oldman as an OmniCorp scientist, Samuel L. Jackson as a TV mogul, and Abbie Cornish as Joel Kinnaman's wife, who still thinks he was killed in action.

José Padilha is directing from a screenplay by Joshua Zetumer. Production is slated to begin later this summer in Toronto.

Hugh Laurie just wrapped an eight-season run as Dr. Gregory House on the Fox hit series House. His other recent movie roles include Arthur Christmas, Hop, Monsters Vs. Aliens, and Street Kings.
