Hulu will introduce the new Hellraiser in October, and the promotion has started with the release of an all-new teaser trailer for the reboot. Though brief, the ominous teaser does provide a sneak peek at Jamie Clayton as the new Hell Priest, aka Pinhead, with a look at her face hidden behind the moving letters of the film's official logo. The teaser, streaming on YouTube and embedded below, also notes that the film will start streaming on Hulu on Oct. 7, 2022, just in time for the Halloween season.

While there have been many Hellraiser movies in years past, this new reboot from Hulu is notable in that it brings Clive Barker back to the franchise. Barker, who wrote the original novella that inspired the 1987 movie he also directed, had not been involved with the franchise since serving as a producer on 1996's Hellraiser: Bloodline, the fourth installment of the series. It was reported in 2020 that Barker had reacquired the rights to Hellraiser and would be producing this new reboot for Hulu.

David Bruckner (The Night House) directed the new Hellraiser using a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski wiht a story by David Goyer, Ben Collins, and Piotrowski. Jamie Clayton (Sense8) plays the new Pinhead with the cast also including Odessa A’zion (Grand Army), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Drew Starkey (The Devil All the Time), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Aoife Hinds (Normal People), Jason Liles (Stereoscope), Yinka Olorunnife (The Transporter), Selina Lo (Q8 Unleashed), Zachary Hing (Halo), Kit Clarke (Leonardo), with Goran Visnjic (The Boys), and Hiam Abbass (Blade Runner 2049).

Jamie Clayton Has Provided a Sneak Peek at Her Transformation

Jamie Clayton's Hellraiser Casting Draws Praise from Horror Fans

The above teaser does provide our best sneak peek yet at the new Pinhead, though Jamie Clayton previously revealed a look at her transformation into the iconic horror villain. On Instagram, Clayton posted a video of herself in the makeup chair, though the footage did not reveal a finished look at the completed makeup. It remains to be seen just how much of Pinhead horror fans will get to see before the film makes its streaming debut.

Famously, horror legend Doug Bradley debuted as Pinhead, aka Hell Priest, in the original Hellraiser. It was a role he reprised for most of the franchise's sequels, going on to appear in the next seven movies with 2006's Hellraiser: Hellworld erving as his final movie. The role would be recast with Stephan Smith Collins for the 2011 movie Hellraiser: Revelations while Paul T. Taylor would become the third Pinhead actor with his debut in 2018's Hellraiser: Judgment. However, many fans of the original novella by Clive Barker are stoked about the casting, as her incarnation is more accurate to how the character was described in the book.

The new Hellraiser is set to premiere on Hulu on Oct. 7, 2022. After the tremendous success of Prey on the streamer, perhaps Hulu has struck gold by reviving classic horror properties, but it remains to be seen if Hellraiser reaches similar heights.
