Whenever the time comes to discuss any movie within the realm of horror or suspenseful thrillers, the endless notion that all of you should never trust anyone instantaneously kicks in, similar to a revolving door. Hulu’s recently released thriller No Exit follows the sentiment that individuals should never mistake any stranger for warm and heartfelt. The problem is, people are almost never able to see someone for who they really are until it's too late, that is.

Throughout No Exit, Darby Thorne (Havana Rose Liu) is the ideal main character to echo the importance of spotting key signs early on. Stranded by an emerging blizzard, a local police officer provides Darby with assistance by instructing her to temporarily stop at a nearby rest area until the inclement weather eventually lightens. Once arriving at the highway rest area, Darby encounters a group of strangers, also were instructed to gather in the place by the officer until the storm passes.

After Darby unexpectedly notices a young girl, locked in the back of an unidentified person's van, also located in the rest stop's parking lot, she sets out to uncover who the abductor is. Blurring the lines between terrifying thriller and flat-out horror, a strong-minded Darby races to find justice in a group that all seem pretty sketchy at times.

For viewers, encounters similar to this one can be as unexpected as their car breaking down on the side of the road or having to stop at a local rest area due to a severe snowstorm (sounds familiar). All of these moments are crucial in learning when to refrain from disclosing too much information with strangers to possible actions if something out of the ordinary catches your eye. These significant takeaways from No Exit will demonstrate the importance of spotting red flags in either prospective acquaintances or potentially sketchy people.

Everyone Is a Suspect

Without giving away any spoilers, there is a series of particular scenes where Darby preemptively places her trust in one specific character. Unknown to Darby, this same individual character is flying under the radar and later revealed that they shouldn't have been trusted in the first place. During the scenes in question, Darby is allowing herself to trust a person she just met while at this remote area because they appear to genuinely care about her, not being aware that there could be a series of questionable people in on this plot. Through Darby's experience, viewers are able to learn that immediately trusting a person you may not even know is, in fact, very dangerous.

For real encounters and experiences, everyone should warm up to the idea of being skeptical of any and everybody. The fact is, the intentions of others are sometimes malicious and deceitful, and allowing yourself to disconnect from being so trusting of complete strangers will not only benefit you in the long run. Still, it will also save you from being tricked into situations beyond your control.

While questioning the intentions of the other characters at the rest stop, Darby finds potential ways to reach out for assistance while trying to save the young, abducted girl in the van. As everyone initially believes that Darby has gone to the bathroom, she instead finds a hole in the restroom, leading her to go back outside through the walls. By doing this, she is able to routinely check on the girl and find alternative ways for the two to escape.

Additionally, during the group's round of BS (a card game), Darby is able to find the identity of the kidnaper from what she remembers about the licenses plate. Despite the fact that she finds the identity of the abductor, she still has to find possible ways to flee the scene and call for help, two tasks that both sound simple but is a severe challenge for Darby. Nevertheless, her ability to find little gems of information through the most simplistic ways is resourceful, smart, and effective.
