Grammy-winning recording artist Lorde has released her new single "Yellow Flicker Beat" today, which will appear on the official soundtrack for Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, in theaters November 21. We reported in July that Lorde will curate the soundtrack, while providing this first single, which perfectly captures the mood and tone of this penultimate chapter of the sci-fi thriller.
In addition, more character portraits have been released. Last week, the official Instagram page for The Hunger Games franchise posted a number of new images. Over the weekend, five more debuted showcasing Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Messalla (Evan Ross), Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) and Alma Coin (Julianne Moore).
You can check out the first song from the soundtrack that Lorde posted on her official YouTube page, along with these latest images that delve deeper into the story of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen having survived the Hunger Games twice. Now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry and wants revenge. Katniss must pay for the unrest, and President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins' groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about movies of the year, and you can hear some of this unrest in the new single from Lorde:
