Martin Campbell is in early talks to direct the upcoming espionage thriller Hunter Killer. Phillip Noyce, Antoine Fuqua and McG were previously interested in directing.

The film is based on a novel by Don Keith and George Wallace titled Firing Point and follows a Russian military leader that brings the U.S. to the brink of nuclear war. A submarine commander and an elite Navy special forces unit are all that stand between the Russians and war. No cast has been announced.

Martin Campbell will direct from a screenplay by Jamie Moss, John Kolvenbach and Arne Schmidt. The director previously directed Green Lantern, Edge of Darkness and the James Bond film Casino Royale.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Jaffe are producing with Ryan Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley. No production schedule has been released.
