The sequel to the 2012 fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, simply titled The Huntsman, continues to hit turbulence on its way to the big screen. Director Frank Darabont, who started to circle the project in June of last year, has officially backed away from the movie.

Universal Pictures and Frank Darabont have reportedly separated on amicable terms. Both parties are citing 'creative differences' as the reason for the split. The studio already has an unknown party lined up to take over the position. They are expected to stay on track with production, and have not relinquished their April 22, 2016 release date just yet.

The Huntsman is a prequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, and will focus primarily on Chris Hemsworth's title character. Charlize Theron is expected to return as the evil Ravenna. No further story details have been released. We'll be sure to update as soon as the mystery director Universal has in mind is revealed.
