Adam Sandler has his sights set on basketball success in the new teaser trailer for Hustle. The latest of many Netflix movies to feature Sandler in the lead, Hustle follows the beloved actor and comedian as a basketball scout who's found someone he knows can make it to the NBA. Also produced by LeBron James, the movie is set to hit Netflix in June, but you can get a good feel of what the sports drama is like by watching the new teaser below.

Per Netflix, the official logline for Hustle reads: "After discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad, a down on his luck basketball scout (Adam Sandler) takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team's approval. Against the odds, they have one final shot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA."

Jeremiah Zagar directs Hustle using a screenplay by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters. Adam Sandler produces with Allen Covert, Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, Zack Roth, LeBron James, and Maverick Carter. The executive Producers are Barry Bernardi, Kevin Grady, Spencer Beighley, Jamal Henderson, Taylor Materne, Judit Maull, and Dave Meyers. The film is a collaboration between production companies Happy Madison Productions, Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and The SpringHill Company.

Along with Sandler as one of the leads, the film also stars Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Kenny Smith, Juancho Hernangómez, Ainhoa Pillet, Raul Castillo, Jordan Elizabeth Hull, Maria Botto, Heidi Gardner, and Robert Duvall. NBA players like Anthony Edwards and Tobias Harris are also featured.

Netflix Spent Big Bucks for Adam Sandler to Keep Making Movies

Hustle
Netflix

Hustle is one of many projects that stems from a lucrative deal to keep Adam Sandler developing new projects for Netflix. The actor first signed with the streamer in 2014, kicking off their partnership with movies like The Ridiculous 6 pulling in high viewership from subscribers. In 2017, the two partnered back up with a 4-movie extension, bringing about more success with acclaimed titles like Murder Mystery, which has a sequel in development. Another extension for four more movies was signed in 2020.

“Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him," Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement released by Netflix at the time. "They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”

The comedy will keep coming, but as Sandler fans know that he's talented with his dramatic acting as well, it's good to see other offerings on the way from the actor. We've seen Sandler seeking sports glory in Happy Gilmore, but as we can quickly tell from the teaser above, his Hustle character is a very different kind of role. Hustle is set to start streaming on Netflix on June 10, 2022. You can watch the film on the Netflix app as well as at Netflix.com.
