Ben Affleck is all set to star in Robert Rodriguez's mind-bending action thriller Hypnotic. The Academy Award winning actor just reunited with his old friend Kevin Smith for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot where he reprised his role as Holden McNeil. Rodriguez directed Alita: Battle Angel and Red 11, which both hit theaters this year. Production on Hypnotic is scheduled to start in April 2020 and this is the first green lit project under the Studio 8 and Solstice Studios strategic partnership.

Hypnotic is an action thriller directed by Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel) and written by Rodriguez and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island). The movie follows a detective (Ben Affleck) who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program - while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists. With production set to begin soon, Affleck is more than likely training at this point in time to prepare for the role.

Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov is excited to get the chance to collaborate with Ben Affleck again. The two have worked together in the past, which resulted in box office and awards success. As for Robert Rodriguez and Affleck, this will be the first time that they have worked together on a project. Robinov had this to say about working with Affleck again.

Ben Affleck is a multiple award-winning actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He has won two Academy Awards, along with multiple Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He's best known for his work directing and starring in the Warner Bros. Best Picture Academy Award winner Argo and The Town in which he starred, directed and co-wrote. Previous leading roles include Justice League, The Accountant, Batman v Superman, Gone Girl, and State of Play. He directed Gone Baby Gone and starred in and co-wrote Good Will Hunting.

Robert Rodriguez, Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov, and his colleagues Guy Danella & John Graham will produce Hypnotic with Solstice, which will spearhead US distribution and international sales beginning at the AFM this week. At this time, Ben Affleck is the only cast member to have been announced, but more will likely be announced in the coming weeks since production is set to begin early next year. A release date has yet to be announced, but one can imagine the movie being ready for a spring or summer 2021 release. Deadline was the first to announce Robert Rodriguez's upcoming project with Ben Affleck.
