Filmmaker Stuart Beattie has signed onto write and direct I, Frankenstein for Lakeshore Entertainment. The project was originally set for Patrick Tatopoulos to direct from Kevin Grevioux's screenplay, which he adapted from his own graphic novel.

The story centers on the town of Darkhaven, where Frankenstein and several other legendary monsters dwell beneath the city's surface. Frankenstein stands alone as the city's sole protector, fighting off the creatures who are trying to escape and usher in a new level of chaos to the humans above. Kevin Grevioux created the graphic novel and wrote the original draft of the adapted screenplay. Stuart Beattie will take over the writing duties.

Stuart Beattie, who has written screenplays for such hits as Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl and Collateral, recently made his directorial debut with Tomorrow, When the War Began.
