The Guest director Adam Wingard and screenwriter Simon Barrett are teaming up again for an English-language remake of I Saw the Devil.

We first reported on this project back in December, when 1984 Private Defense Contractors' Adi Shankar and Spencer Silna acquired the rights to the original thriller by Jee-woon Kim. I Saw the Devil follows a dangerous serial killer (Min-sik Choi) whose latest victim is the pregnant fiancee of a highly-trained special agent named Soo-hyun (Byung-hun Lee). Obsessed with revenge, Soo-hyun does whatever it takes to track down this killer, turning into a madman in the process.

The deals for Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett have been in the works for quite some time, with Simon Barrett already starting work on the screenplay, and director Adam Wingard already meeting with actors. No production schedule has been given.

Snoot Entertainment, the company that produced The Guest and last year's Adam Wingard/Simon Barrett thriller You're Next, have boarded the project. Keith Calder and Jessica Calder are producing for Snoot, alongside Adi Shankar and Spencer Silna.

Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett have also worked together on A Horrible Way to Die and segments of V/H/S and V/H/S/2.
