There's going to be more iCarly coming to Paramount+, as the revival series has just officially been renewed for a third season. Last year, the new iCarly premiered on Paramount+ with its first season and scored a quick renewal for season 2. The second season wrapped up on the streamer in June, and as the series continues to do well with fans, the renewal is now official with season 3 guaranteed and likely to arrive sometime in 2023.

The new iCarly brings back several original cast members and stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly Shay, Jerry Trainor as her older brother Spencer, and Nathan Kress as her longtime friend Freddie Benson. The other main cast members are Laci Mosley as Carly's roommate Harper and Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Freddie's adopted stepdaughter. The series also featured Lyric Lewis, Poppy Liu, Josh Plasse, Mary Scheer, Conor Husting, and Mia Serafino.

"iCarly’s loyal fan base grew up with Carly, Spencer, and Freddie, and have now fallen in love with Harper and Millicent, too,” Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of streaming for Paramount+, said in a statement announcing the season 3 renewal. “We’re thrilled to have Miranda, Jerry, Nathan, Laci, and Jaidyn return for a third season, and we know Paramount+’s growing YA audience is as well. And I, for one, must find out what happens with #Creddie!"

The new iCarly has a bit of a different vibe compared to the original series that aired on Nickelodeon, given how Carly is now no longer a child and is dealing with more adult issues. Fans of the original will also certainly notice the absence of Sam Puckett, Carly's best friend in the original series played by Jennette McCurdy. There had been attempts to get McCurdy involved with the revival but the former child star has stepped back from acting and was not interested in revisiting her Nickelodeon role.

"My experience with acting is, I'm so ashamed of the parts I've done in the past," McCurdy said on Anna Faris' podcast. "I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing. I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed. My friends at 15, they're not like, 'Oh, cool, you're on this Nickelodeon show.' It was embarrassing. And I imagine there's a very different experience to be had with acting if you're proud of your roles, and if you feel fulfilled by them."

But iCarly has nevertheless found its audience with its mix of new and returning characters. There's never a guarantee that a series revival will be a success, no matter how popular a show might have been in the past. This year alone has already seen the cancelations of reboots like HBO Max's Head of the Class, Prime Video's I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The CW's Legends of the Hidden Temple. Having gone three seasons by this point, iCarly has already proven to be much more successful.
