According to Variety, Revolution Studios believes it can substitute rapper for dapper in its renovation of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.
The studio is in talks with Ice Cube to play the title character, a role originated by Cary Grant.
Cube's Next Friday director, Steve Carr, will helm the remake this summer.
Revolution made a deal with rights holder RKO Pictures last year and at the time set Carr and screenwriter Hank Nelken.
One of the gems in the RKO Pictures library, the original 1948 comedy starred Grant and Myrna Loy as a couple that chucks their Manhattan apartment for a big house in the suburbs. The fixer-upper proves to be a nightmare.
