It seems that a rapper-actor is about to hit the streets for a new film project, but this time as a cop. Variety is reporting that Ice Cube has joined the cast of the new police-scandal film Rampart.

He joins a cast that includes Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster, who are reuniting with their director on The Messenger, Oren Moverman, on this film project.

Moverman will direct from a James Ellroy script, which revolves around the 1990s LAPD scandal involving the CRASH (Commmunity Resources Against Street Hoodlums), an anti-gang program that became corrupt and lead to unprovoked shootings, beatings, planting evidence and much more.

Harrelson will play the lead, an LAPD officer who gets caught up in the scandal, while Cube and Foster will also play fellow LAPD officers. Filming is set to begin this August in Los Angeles.
