ID Theft Gets Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy

Universal Pictures is setting up this comedy which will have Melissa McCarthy's character stealing the identity of Jason Bateman's character.

Universal Pictures has landed Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy to star in the new comedy ID Theft.

Steve Conrad wrote the original screenplay, with Craig Mazin performing rewrites. The comedy was originally set to feature Jason Bateman's character having his identity stolen by another man, but after Melissa McCarthy's breakthrough turn in Bridesmaids, the identity thief is being reworked for the actress.

Jason Bateman is also producing ID Theft alongside Scott Stuber. Production is scheduled to begin in April 2012, when Melissa McCarthy is on hiatus from her CBS sitcom Mike & Molly.
