Director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) has attached himself to the Universal Pictures comedy project ID Theft. We first reported on this project back in August, when Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy signed on to star.

The story centers on an ordinary man who gets his identity stolen by a woman. It is said that the identity thief was originally supposed to be a man, but Jason Bateman pushed Universal to cast Melissa McCarthy after her breakthrough performance in Bridesmaids.

Seth Gordon will direct ID Theft from a screenplay originally written by Steve Conrad, with Craig Mazin performing a rewrite. Jason Bateman is also producing along with Scott Stuber.

Our original report from August indicated production will start in April, after Melissa McCarthy wraps on her CBS sitcom Mike & Molly.
