It seems Kenneth Branagh has found the guardian for his mythical superhero adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog, Idris Elba has signed on to Thor.

The actor will play Heimdall, the guardian of Thor's home land of Asgard. Elba joins a cast that already includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddelston and Natalie Portman.

Kenneth Branagh will direct the film, which is set for a May 20, 2011 release date. Shooting is scheduled to commence in January.
