There have been many actors in line to play James Bond, but certain names keep coming up time and time again. One of those is Idris Elba, but the actor is done answering the same question of whether or not he will be playing the super-spy anytime soon. While speaking in a recent interview, Elba, who is currently starring in the action thriller Beast, called out those who constantly ask him the same James Bond question, saying it is nothing more than “lazy journalism.”

Elba is not alone in being barraged with questions about whether he will or will not be taking over the coveted role in future. Since the announcement of Daniel Craig’s departure from the role of James Bond in No Time To Die, there has been a constant churning of names, including the likes of Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Rege-Jean Page, Henry Cavill and many others. While it was recently suggested that a young actor would be the target when Bond does return, which would effectively rule out Elba anyway, the Luther star has been quite candid about his feelings for journalists that only want to ask him about Bond rumors. During an appearance on the Jemele Hill is Unbothered podcast, Elba said:

“I have no more answers for it. I just tell people ‘aw, don’t ask me that.’ Because a lot of times it’s really lazy journalism. And people try to use it as clickbait like ‘what’s he gonna say this time?’ I try to say the same things. Every now and then I just tease them, but every now and then I’ll give them some philosophy on why I don’t want to do it or why it’s a rumor. But most times now I tend not to talk about it.”

Idris Elba Recently Made a Surprise MCU Return

Is Thor 4 Resurrecting Idris Elba as Heimdall?

Idris Elba’s time in the MCU seemed to have come to an end in Avengers: Infinity War, with his character dying at the hands of Thanos early in the movie. However, the actor made a surprise return to the role of Heimdall in the post credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder. Discussing his return previously, Elba said:

"Pretty much his whole sort of like arsenal of gifts have been tapped into one way or another. He's all-seeing, you know. But he's quite a warrior. We've seen him as a warrior as well, and he has an immortality around him and that would be something that we haven't really explored so that I think may be interesting. Hey, listen, you know, the Marvel world is ever-expanding. You just never know."

Elba is also currently appearing as the lead in the movie Beast, a thriller about a group of people being hunted by a man-eating lion. While the reviews, and its opening weekend, have not been great, there is no doubt the film could find a second life when it goes to streaming following its theatrical run.
