Catherine Breillat's drama The Last Mistress has been acquired by IFC Entertainment. According to Variety, the film will premier on pay-per-view the same day it is released in theaters.

The Last Mistress is based on a book from 19th-century Gallic novelist Jules-Amedee Barbey d'Aurevilly. The story is set in 19th century France and follows the love affair between a member of the aristocracy and his tempestuous Spanish mistress.

The film stars Asia Argento and Fu'ad Ait Aattou. It will be screened as part of the 45th New York Film Festival, which runs September 28th to October 14th.
