Variety reports that IFC has picked up the horror film The Human Centipede (First Sequence).

Tom Six wrote and directed this movie. In the film, two girls from America are traveling through Europe. Upon entering Germany their car breaks down in the woods. After taking refuge in a villa, they wake up the next day to find themselves hostages in a basement. They are then introduced to a doctor who is bent on creating a "human centipede".

It stars Deiter Laser as a doctor who sews his victims together.

IFC plans to release the movie later this year in theaters and on VOD.

IFC has been trying their hand at different sorts of horror films lately. In 2009 they released Dead Snow and then entered even stranger territory with Lars von Trier's Antichrist.

Tom Six has also directed the films Honeyz and Gay.
