Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are planning on animating The Cat In The Hat, the classic Dr. Suess story based on the tall, anthropomorphic, mischievous cat, wearing a tall, red and white-striped hat and a red bow tie.

The books follow the Cat, that brings a cheerful, exotic and exuberant form of chaos to a household of two young kids, brother and sister, one rainy day while their mother leaves them unattended. The script will be written by Rob Lieber.

Christopher Meledandri and Audrey Geisel are producing the 3D CG-animated project.

Dr. Seuss' the Lorax brought in over $100 million in the U.S. Mike Myers remade a live action version of the classic back in 2003.
