After portraying a washed up actor known for playing a superhero in Best Picture winner Birdman, Michael Keaton is returning to the comic book genre, starring and producing in Imagine Agents, an adaptation of the Boom! comic for 20th Century Fox. The studio is currently seeking screenwriters to tackle the adaptation of this comic book movie, created by Brian Joines and artist Bachan. The story is being compared to the Men In Black franchise, set in a clandestine organization that puts a new spin on your childhood imaginary friend.

The plot is set in a world where imaginary friends are in fact real, centering on an agency known as I.M.A.G.I.N.E., which monitors these specters and intervenes when things get out of hand. Michael Keaton is playing a 20-year I.M.A.G.I.N.E. veteran agent, who is tasked with training a young archivist when their seemingly routine day is turned upside down. Boom! published the first issue of Imagine Agents back in October 2013.

Michael Keaton is producing alongside Anonymous Content's Michael Sugar and Boom!'s Ross Richie. Stephen Christy will executive produce for Boom!, alongside Anonymous Content's Eli Selden and Doug Wald. No production schedule has been given for Imagine Agents at this time. Michael Keaton is currently filming The Founder, where he plays McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, and he is also attached to star in Kong: Skull Island.
