True Believer Iman Vellani is making her acting debut in the Marvel Studios series Ms. Marvel on Disney+, arriving on June 8, 2022. Vellani is making her professional debut in one of the largest franchises in Hollywood and the excitement is something the young actor still hasn't overcome - nor should she, it is exciting! In fact, the Kamala Khan actress, who is an MCU stan that never acted before being cast in Ms. Marvel, recently said that it's "really weird" watching herself perform on screen.

In an interview with the Toronto International Film Festival (via The Direct), Vellani commented on what it's like watching herself perform in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She said:

It's weird. It's really weird. Watching yourself is like the most cursed thing ever. Like, I don't know what I look like, and I realize that now. Like, you know what you look like, but you don't. Like, you don't know what you look like when you eat, when you're happy, when you're sad, or when you run—running is the worst, in my opinion. Yeah, it's terrifying, but in a fun way.

Vellani has already filmed her first two Marvel Studios projects, Ms. Marvel and The Marvels, both debuting this summer. As a central character in Marvel Comics and ring leader for the younger generation of Marvel heroes, it can be expected that Vellani's Ms. Marvel will continue to play a major role in the MCU going forward. Many fans have big expectations for the young actress, and the casting department at Marvel seems to know what they are doing (Echo's Alaqua Cox had never acted before Hawkeye and Cox had her own series before filming even wrapped on Maya Lopez's debut last November).

"The fact that the show is being made, and they're including this character in the MCU is [what's important]," Vellani previously told Variety. "I don't really have to go out of my way and talk about being a Muslim and being Pakistani — it all comes out in the show. People seeing a person like me involved in a project as big as this is, I think, inspiring enough."

Iman Vellani's big screen debut in The Marvels was originally slated for February 17th, 2023. However, Disney and Marvel recently announced a tiny change in the Multiverse (and the quantum realm, too). The Marvels has swapped places with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and will now arrive in theaters on July 28th, 2023. In addition to Vellani, The Marvels will star Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris, who was introduced as adult Monica Rambeau in WandaVision.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment of the Ant-Man franchise starring 2021's Sexiest Man of the Year and Mac and Me aficionado Paul Rudd as Ant-Man/Scott Lang, alongside "Vaxxed Democrat for Medical Freedom" Evangeline Lilly as Wasp/Hope Van Dyne, is now slated to open on February 17th, 2023. Joining Lang and Van Dyne are Hope's parents, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, and the daughter of Scott Lang, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. In addition, the cast will include Jonathan Majors, who was previously seen on Loki as He Who Remains, as Kang the Conqueror.
