DreamWorks has chosen Fright Night star Imogen Poots to play the female lead in Need for Speed. We reported earlier this month that Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul will portray the male lead.

John Gatins (Real Steel) and George Gatins developed the original story, while George Gatins wrote the script. No concrete story details have been released, although the video game adaptation is said to be a throwback to auto-centric films from the 1970s. The plot will not be based on any specific game from the Electronic Arts franchise. No details have been released for either the male or female lead characters as of yet.

Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is directing, with John Gatins, Mark Sourian, and Electronic Arts' Patrick O'Brien producing.

It isn't known when shooting will begin. Electronic Arts released the latest game in the franchise, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, earlier this week.
