The impractical jokes aren't ending anytime soon, as the popular TruTV series Impractical Jokers hast just been renewed for a tenth season. What's even better for the group known as the Tenderloins - Joe Gatto, James "Murr" Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn, and Sal Vulcano - is that the renewal is just one part of a new first-look deal the group just signed with WarnerMedia that will see them develop and produce original unscripted and scripted programming for TNT, TBS, TruTV, and HBO Max.

"From the very first dinner I had with Joe, James, Brian and Sal, I knew I loved spending time with them, and that our audiences would as well," Brian Weitz, General Manager, TBS, TNT, and TruTV said in a statement. "And here we are, greenlighting a tenth season. We're proud to be the home, where the guys can continue to flex their creative muscles, continue to evolve their comedy and build new IP that we can introduce into the larger WarnerMedia family."

The Tenderloins added: "For over a decade, truTV has been our home and we couldn't be happier to continue crashing on the company couch. We absolutely love making Impractical Jokers and a big part of that is the support that WarnerMedia gives to us and our crazy ideas. To continue making Jokers while being given the opportunity to develop and produce other content for our beloved fans is a dream come true. That's not hyperbole. We're grateful and excited to an insane degree."

Along with Impractical Jokers, the Tenderloins are also involved in The Misery Index, which is currently in its third season at TBS. Hosted by Jameela Jamil, the game show pits two contestants against each other, each teaming up with two members of the Jokers foursome. The gameplay involves rating and ranking miserable true stories to determine who has a higher Misery Index rating.

Last year, the crew hit the big screen when Impractical Jokers: The Movie was released in theaters. In addition to the regular group, the movie included special appearances from celebrities like Paula Abdul, Kane Hodder, Joey Fatone, Jaden Smith, and Will Ferrell. Its release was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, but it was still a financial success. The movie can be streamed now on HBO Max.

The group has also developed companion shows like Impractical Jokers: After Party, which sees the Tenderloins speak with Joey Fatone about the pranks that happened in the latest episode. They also do video group chat while eating dinner in the pandemic-safe spinoff Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party, which ended its first season just last month. Needless to say, they've produced a lot of content already, but the powers that be want them to keep it going with more to come for the foreseeable future.

"The guys had a hit movie and three wildly successful shows with Impractical Jokers, Dinner Party and Misery Index... and that was all in 2020 alone," said Corie Henson, EVP/Head of Unscripted Development, TNT, TBS, TruTV. "They are prolific and have a ton of ideas about how to turn more hits into an even bigger brand. We have three networks, so we're going to get out of their way, and give them the support and the biggest platform to do just that."

News of the renewal comes just hours before the long-running series premieres season 9 on the network, which premieres on Thursday evening. This news comes to us from Deadline.
