In Pursuit With John Walsh has now helped to find its 12th fugitive, thanks to a viewer tip. The Discovery true crime series helped lead to the arrest of William Stanton, an alleged sexual predator. The show is currently in its second season for the network after four successful seasons on CNN, going back to 2014. During its original 4-season run, Walsh was able to help bring in 19 living fugitives, along with one who was killed, and three more who were already deceased.

The William Stanson episode of In Pursuit With John Walsh aired on January 29th. A viewer tip helped locate Stanson in Mexico, which led to new charges. He now faces charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and failure to appear, in addition to first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Henry Schleiff, group president for Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, American Heroes Channel and Destination America, had this to say about the new arrest.

"Stanson marks the 12th fugitive featured on In Pursuit With John Walsh to now be in custody, and we are thrilled that our ID audience has helped lead to the arrest of William Stanson, hopefully closing a dark chapter for his victims. I am so proud of our viewers for taking a stand to actively engage in the justice system, and we remain committed to the profound work that John and Callahan Walsh do on this series, which helps bring answers and closure to so many families."

William Stanson was accused of sexual assault by several teenage girls in 2014. The girls were friends with his daughter, Kayla, who also came out in 2015 and alleged that her father had sexually abused her for a decade. She was later impregnated by him and forced to terminate the pregnancy in another state. Stanson admitted to the relationship and claimed that it was consensual when questioned by authorities. He soon fled. A press release from the Michigan State Police can be read below.

"Once it was determined Stanson was out of the country, the St. Joseph (MI) FBI office was contacted and coordinated efforts leading to the location and arrest of Stanson were undertaken. The FBI obtained an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant and requested assistance from their Mexico law enforcement partners in Baja California, located in northwestern Mexico... On February 4, 2020, William Troy Stanson, age 53, was taken into custody by Mexican authorities... Law enforcement would also like to thank the family of the victims for their assistance and cooperation throughout this investigation."

In Pursuit With John Walsh is hosted by John Walsh and his son, Callahan Walsh. The true crime series details unsolved crimes and features missing-child cases, which later relies on leads from viewers, who can call in their anonymous tips or send them into a website. In addition to the 12 fugitives being brought to justice, the show has also been able to locate one missing child, which is a pretty good track record for only two seasons with Discovery.

In Pursuit With John Walsh continues tonight, Wednesday, February 5th, with an episode dedicated to Lenell Kirby, a highly dangerous fugitive, in Detroit, Michigan. Hopefully the series will give investigators the clues they need to track him down. For now, we'll just have to wait and see. The show airs at 10 PM Eastern on the Discovery Channel. The William Stanton news was first announced by Discovery.
