Sony Pictures has picked up a spec script for the shark thriller In the Deep. The film is said to be a mix between 127 Hours and Jaws. It was written by Tony Jaswinski.

The story is set on a remote beach where a woman in her 20s is struggling to cope with the loss of her mother. She goes surfing and is pulled out 60 feet from the shore, where she is soon terrorized by a great white shark.

Former Warner Bros executive Lynn Harris is producing with Weimaraner Republic Pictures' Matti Leshem. No casting or production details have been released. Sony is said to be moving fairly quickly on the project, so expect to hear casting and director announcements soon.
