The Incredibles 2 is getting not one, but two different tie-in comics from Dark Horse this year. It's been 14 years since Disney and Pixar unleashed The Incredibles on the world, and perhaps no movie in the studio's history has been so deserving of a sequel. That sequel is coming this summer in the form of Incredibles 2, which arrives in theaters on June 15. But that's not all, as fans will also have two different comic books to dig into that further explore Pixar's superpowered family.

Dark Horse Comics is behind both of the upcoming Incredibles 2 tie-in comics. Since Disney owns Marvel Comics, it seems a little surprising that they're not handling these comics, but it's Dark Horse that's bringing us these additional Incredibles stories later this year. Dark Horse was in charge of publishing the Star Wars comics until Disney purchased Lucasfilm and decided the property would be heading back to Marvel. But apparently, there's no bad blood between the publisher and the Mouse House. Dark Horse will publish the graphic novel, Incredibles 2: Heroes at Home and the three-issue miniseries, Incredibles 2: Crisis in Mid-Life! and Other Stories.

First up is Incredibles 2: Heroes at Home, which is an all-ages graphic novel that features the younger members of the super family, Dash and Violent, taking care of housework while their parents are busy with new jobs. What seems to be a simple, routine trip to the grocery store becomes a superhero mission when the duo detects some suspicious criminal activity. However, even their housework isn't a simple task with their superpowered baby brother Jack-Jack begins wreaking havoc. Incredibles 2: Heroes at Home is written by Liz Marsham (Disney Princess Beginnings) and illustrated by Nicoletta Baldari (Star Wars Adventures: Forces of Destiny).

Incredibles 2: Crisis in Mid-Life! And Other Stories, will consist of three issues, each of which contains two parallel stories: Crisis in Mid-Life! sees Mr. Incredible fight to stop the supervillain Bomb Voyage, who appears in the first Incredibles movie, from ruining a new submarine dedication ceremony, which causes the hero to question his own powers. Another one of the stories in this series will be Bedtime Story, in which Mr. Incredible tells Jack-Jack a story from his glory days that Dash and Violet have never heard before. Each issue of the series will also feature backup stories about the young Jack-Jack. Incredibles 2: Crisis in Mid-Life! And Other Stories will be written by Christos Gage, and Landry Q. Walker, and illustrated by Gurihiru, J.Bone, Andrea Greppi, and Roberta Zanotta.

These books don't yet have release dates, so it's unclear if they will be released ahead of Incredibles 2, which comes from director Brad Bird, or if they will be released afterward, for those who are hungry for more after seeing the sequel. In either case, this should be good news for those who have been waiting a long time for more Incredibles adventures.
