While some jittery videos of the first footage from Indiana Jones 5 have been circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms, James Mangold has now teased the official release of the teaser trailer for the final outing of Harrison Ford’s hero. It seems that would put it in line to be premiered online just ahead of the release of Avatar: The Way of Water on December 16, which would then most likely see the trailer running with screenings of what looks to be one of the biggest movies of the year.Indiana Jones 5 has been delayed several times due to set injuries, the Covid pandemic and general rescheduling by Disney. Now, the movie has set its sights on being one of the big blockbusters of next summer, and with Harrison Ford ready to hang up his fedora, the film is ready to bring his saga to a close with a seemingly time-spanning adventure.James Mangold has constantly been active on his Twitter account, whether to debunk rumors about the movie or to answer fan questions about it. In a recent run of replies, Mangold responded with a time window of when fans can expect the trailer to land. Having been asked when the “next promotional piece” is being released, Mangold responded with a pretty precise, “Less than 30 days.”

According to James Mangold, there have been no test screenings of the film, meaning numerous comments on social media about the movie being a disappointment are entirely untrue. The director responded to several suggestions that the film was in trouble recently when more and more people seemed to be asking if there was any truth in the rumors.

Indiana Jones 5 has some big boots to fill, and no one knows that more than Mangold, who is not only stepping into the huge franchise but also into the shoes of the legendary Steven Spielberg. With all four previous Indiana Jones movies having been directed by Spielberg, there were apparent worries about the final movie being put in the hands of someone else. The director previously responded to online criticism that surfaced following some early set-leak images, saying:

"I understand wariness, I live it. I don't know if I'll make you happy. But my team & I will knock ourselves out trying to make something good. We admire the craft of the originals. I hope when you see real images, they'll look better to you than paparazzi shots from bushes. Maybe, just maybe, I won't let you down. I cherish old Hollywood pictures. Give me a little air to make the film. Then make your judgements, okay?"

Indiana Jones 5 will feature the return of Ford along with John Rhys-Davies, and will also introduce Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas, among others. How the movie fares at the box office is something we still have to find out, but the wait for that first trailer is almost over. Indiana Jones 5 will arrive in cinemas on June 30, 2023.
