Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones and he wants us to remember that. The actor was recently asked about someone else picking up the mantle and he had some pretty blunt words about the subject. Ford isn't the biggest fan of doing interviews, but he has no problem saying exactly what he means or making the choice to endorse or not endorse something. Many Star Wars fans were shocked to see the actor come out to help Alden Ehrenreich (sometimes Ehrenreich was shocked too) promote Solo: A Star Wars Story since Ford has had his ups and downs with the franchise over the years.

However, when it comes to the Indiana Jones franchise, Harrison Ford believes it begins and ends with him. There have been plenty of rumors about the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 being a movie where Ford, who is 76-years old, passes the torch to a younger actor. Apparently, that is not going to happen. Ford explains.

"Nobody is going to be Indiana Jones. Don't you get it? I'm Indiana Jones. When I'm gone, he's gone. It's easy!"

It really is easy when Harrison Ford puts it that way. However, a reboot or remake is inevitable in the coming years. Ford, like all of us, isn't going to be around forever, and the studio is going to want to make a new set of movies with a new actor. But for now, the veteran actor is being highly protective of his iconic character and the Indiana Jones franchise as a whole, even if he's practically winking at the camera at the same time. Where was this attitude when the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull script was given to him?

Out of a ton of actors who would more than likely give their left arm to take over the Indiana Jones franchise, Chris Pine's name has come up more than once. While Harrison Ford is having some fun, he is being serious, which he then punctuated with a joke: "This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this. I'm sorry man!" Ford's message is loud and clear to just about anybody who thinks they are going to pick up the whip and wide-brimmed sable fedora to play the character on the big screen. Funny thing is, Ford may have given the wrong guy a shout out, as most of the stories involving a young Indiana Jones called Chris Pratt Disney's favorite. Sometimes its hard to keep these Chrises straight.

The late River Phoenix played the young Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade, and Sean Patrick Flanery took over the role for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series, with George Hall playing Indy in his much later years. But it seems that's it for anyone else taking on the role as far as Harrison Ford is concerned. Ford's outlook on the situation is honest and it's refreshing, even if he is having a bit of fun with the remake and younger actor rumors. Ford is prepared to take on the role yet again in Indiana Jones 5 from Disney, which is currently going through some rewrites.
