The first official character posters for Brandon Cronenberg's Infinity Pool are here, giving audiences a brand-new glimpse at the upcoming body horror film. The posters center on the three leads, Alexander Skarsgård, Cleopatra Coleman, and Mia Goth. Each portrait is quite different, with Skarsgård looking enraged as blood marks the side of his face. Whatever he is reacting to is still unknown, however, audiences can assume it will be quite horrifying. The first character poster for Infinity Pool can be found below.
On the other hand, Goth gives her signature scream queen look as her eyes are wide, perhaps with excitement. Her character seems to be very memorable based on the first teaser trailer, as the Pearl actress will undoubtedly give yet another excellent performance in Infinity Pool. Cleopatra Coleman is the last cast member to receive a poster, with a look of worry and dread on her face. Of course, fans won't know exactly what the posters are referencing until Infinity Pool's release. However, with a director like Brandon Cronenberg, the son of acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg, anything is possible. Coleman and Goth's character posters are featured below.
Lastly is Cronenberg's poster, sharing a bit of the body horror fans have come to expect when viewing the film. A disfigured face is the center of the latest look, which may terrify audiences just enough to see the movie for themselves. Cronenberg's poster can be found below.
The official synopsis for Infinity Pool reads:
"While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead."
Infinity Pool is set to receive a world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22 before the United States release the following week on Jan. 27.
Mia Goth Is at the Top of the Horror Genre
Mia Goth is one of the most recognized scream queens working today, appearing in countless horror films over the last few years. In 2016, the actress starred in A Cure for Wellness alongside Dane DeHaan and Jason Isaacs. The film followed an ambitious young executive sent to retrieve his company's CEO from an idyllic but mysterious "wellness center," which is anything but safe.
Additionally, she's starred in Marrowbone and Suspiria; however, the actress rose to scream queen fame with her performance in X. The Ti West film saw Goth alongside Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, and Kid Cudi, receiving glowing reviews which praised Goth's performance. She would return for the second installment in the new franchise with the prequel Pearl and will reunite with West one more time for MaXXXine, a sequel to X. Audiences are hoping for a similarly iconic performance in Infinity Pool when the film releases in theaters on Jan. 27.
