When Marvel unveiled its massive Phase Three slate during a press event last year, Inhumans was officially announced for a 2019 release. Despite recent rumors that the project has been shelved, Inhumans is still moving forward, with another report teasing a tantalizing casting possibility. Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel revealed that he has been in talks with Marvel to play a character that doesn't require his voice, which fans have speculated to be the mighty Black Bolt in Inhumans. IGN caught up with the actor while he was promoting The Last Witch Hunter, where he silently teased how he would play Black Bolt, before adding that he would "level all of London" if he said one word. He went on to add that he has spoken with Kevin Feige about playing Black Bolt, although it isn't known if he has officially come on board yet.

"It would be... put it this way, when Kevin Feige started talking to me about... who would ever think? A voice for one thing and presence for another would be pretty genius - it'd be pretty genius. Whenever my father sends me an email, at the end of it he says 'stay human' - and it's cool and beautiful, but what is he really trying to say. Is he trying to say I've been affected by Terrigen Mist? Does he want to cocoon me again?"

In the Marvel Comics, the Terrigen Mist is the substance that unlocks the Inhumans' powers, and the actor's mention of "cocoon" refers to the transformation one undergoes after exposure to the Terrigen Mist. Black Bolt (a.k.a. Blackagar Boltagon) is the leader of the Inhumans, a character who has a voice that can emit destructive power, which leads him to remain silent for most of the time. While Vin Diesel's statements certainly don't confirm that he has signed on to play Black Bolt, it's clear that he is familiar with Inhumans lore.

Inhumans has been set for release on July 12, 2019, making it the last movie in Marvel's Phase Three slate. Marvel doesn't have a writer or director attached at this time, but there was an early draft of the script by Joe Robert Cole, who came out of the same Marvel writer's program as Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel). Joe Robert Cole recently signed on to write the script for Black Panther, and that report revealed the studio doesn't plan on using his early draft for Inhumans.

Very little is known about the Inhumans movie at this point, but the ABC TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already started setting up the Inhumans story line, revealing that Skye (Chloe Bennet) is actually an Inhuman named Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake. Would Vin Diesel be a good choice to play Black Bolt in the upcoming Inhumans movie? Stay tuned for more updates on Inhumans, and take a look at Vin Diesel's video interview below.
