Following the first trailer that debuted back in October, the second trailer has surfaced for Insidious Chapter 3, which is set for release on June 5. The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

Unfortunately for Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2 fans, this prequel will not feature Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne or Ty Simpkins as the Lambert family. Writer-director-star Leigh Whannell also returns alongside Angus Sampson as Elise's assistants Specs and Tucker, with the cast being rounded out by Dermot Mulroney, Hayley Kiyoko, Michael Reid MacKay, Ele Keats, Steve Coulter and Tate Berney.

Take a look at the latest footage from this highly-anticipated horror prequel, which explores the origins of The Further and showcases Elise's first run-in with a demon.
