We now have an official trailer for Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, a new TV series heading to AMC this fall. Of course, the series is directly based on the original novel and presents a new take on the story unrelated to the previous feature film adaptation. The full trailer, which you can check out below, features tons of new footage to give viewers a good idea of what the new adaptation will be like, courtesy of AMC.

The retelling stars Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Sam Reid (The Newsreader), Bailey Bass (Avatar: The Way of Water), and Eric Bogosian (Succession). You can read the official logline for the AMC series below.

"Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. But Louis’ intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.”

This story is just one of many planned projects in the works at AMC based on the works of late author Anne Rice. The idea is to develop a new television universe linking all these shows, and Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire will be the first to come followed by The Lives of the Mayfair Witches and other stories. This series was officially ordered by AMC last summer and the network is optimistic about the future.

"This is a day we have been looking forward to since we acquired this legendary Anne Rice collection a little more than a year ago," Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios, said in a statement at the time. "This story already has millions of fans in the U.S. and around the world, we can't wait to share this new interpretation of the classic brought to life by Rolin and Mark, as we continue to work on developing the entire collection."

The statement added, "With The Walking Dead, this Anne Rice collection and our majority stake in Agatha Christie Limited through our own Acorn TV, we are proud to have the stewardship of three unique, fan-forward and beloved franchises and universes, which we are only just beginning to explore. We are also thrilled to have Mark, a world class producer we have previously worked with on iconic series like Breaking Bad, Rectify, Halt and Catch Fire, and Better Call Saul on board at the helm of our efforts to develop an entire Anne Rice universe, with significant aspirations for these beloved stories and characters."

Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire is set to premiere on Oct. 2, 2022 on AMC and AMC+.
