New Line Cinema has given Steven Quale's tornado thriller Into the Storm an August 8, 2014 release date. The project stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies and Matt Walsh.

Previously titled Black Sky, this "found footage" natural disaster film centers on a group of high school students that struggle to survive during one of the worst tornadoes in United States history. Richard Armitage plays a widowed father, who attempts to rescue his son from the aftermath of the deadly tornadoes with a group of storm chasers.

The film shares this new date with Lasse Hallström's drama The Hundred-Foot Journey and Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Steven Quale directs from a screenplay by John Swetnam.
