The best-selling first-person shooter game, which was published last year by Tokyo-based DeNA, is being crafted as an ecological horror-thriller. The adaptation will follow the aftermath of a deep-sea drilling accident that unleashes ancient micro-organisms into the water supply of a small coastal town near Seattle.
Ted Field, Mike Weber and Michael Napoleillo are producing for Radar Pictures, with Tom Van Dell and Jason Moskowitz serving as executive producers. No production schedule has been given at this time.
After breaking out with their action-thriller Olympus Has Fallen, husband and wife screenwriters Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt went on to write the Lionsgate sequel The Expendables 3. They are currently writing the upcoming follow-up London Has Fallen, where Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman will reprise their roles from Olympus Has Fallen.
