Next spring, Danny Rand will finally come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the highly-anticipated series Iron Fist debuts on Netflix. The streaming service announced a March 17, 2017 series premiere date earlier this week, while also debuting a new photo, motion poster and variant comic book cover artwork that is available to fans at New York Comic Con. The series also held its first NYCC panel this afternoon, where Marvel debuted a brand new trailer.

The series is set fifteen years after billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) was presumed dead in a plane crash, when mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family's legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist. Danny Rand must fight against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Iron Fist will stream the first season in its entirety starting at 12:01am PT on March 17, 2017, in all territories where Netflix is available. Iron Fist is the fourth of Marvel's Netflix original series, following Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage which debuted last weekend. All of these shows are leading up to the teaming of the main characters in The Defenders miniseries on Netflix. The drama will premiere with 13 one-hour episodes.

Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising her role from Jessica Jones as lawyer Jeri Hogarth, who will be giving Danny Rand a helping hand as he returns to New York. The Iron Fist cast also includes Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum. Scott Buck serves as executive producer and showrunner of Iron Fist, with Jeph Loeb also serving as executive producer. Iron Fist is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

It is believed that The Defenders will also air at some point in 2017, but Netflix hasn't announced when filming may begin, or when the miniseries may debut. It has also been recently confirmed that new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones won't happen until after The Defenders, which means we may not be able to see new seasons of those shows until 2018.
