Iron Man 3 has passed the $300 million mark at the international box office, one day before director Shane Black's Marvel Phase Two sequel opens in theaters domestically. The superhero adventure has already passed the international totals for Captain America: The First Avenger ($192 million), Iron Man ($267 million), and Thor ($268 million) with $307.7 million after just eight days in theaters.

The film benefited from yesterday's May Day holiday, which is celebrated in several countries around the globe, particularly in China, where it broke the opening day record with $21.5 million. Iron Man 3 also broke opening-day records in Thailand and South Africa yesterday.

Domestically, the sequel will open in a whopping 4,253 theaters tomorrow, with three-day weekend estimates fluctuating between $165 and $180 million.
